1. Chania east beachfront December 19, 2010 08:22

The seaside village of Platanias is located 11km west of Chania. The wider area has faced a great development during the last decades and now is actually a suburb of Chania. The village is built on a hillside with fantastic view. During summer nights, the great clubs in the area host thousands of people, both Greeks and foreigners, who dance until dawn.

The beach of Platanias is a lovely large sandy beach, along which there are many hotels of all categories and all the usual touristic facilities. On the beach you will find everything that is provided in a well organized beach, such as beach bars, umbrellas, showers, snack bars, water sports etc. On the east side of the local harbor, close to Agia Marina, you can enjoy your swim in the several small artificial coves, especially on windless days.

The close proximity to Chania, the beautiful beach and the regular bus service from Chania have made Platanias the most popular beach near Chania city.
