Wategoes Beach is a 10minute drive –at most - from the centre of Byron Bay. The drive to Wateogoes is beautiful in itself, I’d recommend walking this journey purely for taking in the views and stopping for photos as the road wraps round the headland giving you a stunning view of the Hinterland, the Bay and Julian Rocks out at sea.
When you reach Wategoes, you will be greeted by an amazing array of homes that sit nestled in the tiny bay with stunning views of the beach and the East Coast of Oz in the distance.
Wategoes is a perfect place to come for a BBQ by the sandy space as the sun sets over the land. The sunsets in Byron are to die for, you must experience one!
Before you hit up the BBQ, you can easily spend the entire day here chilling and soaking up the sun. Wategoes isn’t as busy as Main Beach at the height of summer, so it’s an excellent place to relax away from the bustle of all the tourists.
Top Tip: If you get your timing right to visit this area, you may be lucky enough to catch the sightings of the whales that pass by... Wategoes is one of the best places to be for this!
