1. A beautiful beach Playa de Prellezo

Just back from my first visit to Cantabria, and I wasn't disappointed. I'm sure the coast up there is dotted with small, beautiful beaches, but this one is lovely. Check the tides before you go though, as one part of the beach gets cut off from the other when the tide comes in. There are no facilities, apart from a small bar/shop and an open air shower, but the scenery is impressive, and the sand and the water perfect. And there are plenty of rocks to get changed behind!

2. Achmelvich Bay Achmelvich Beach

A beautiful remote beach on the North-west coast of Scotland. Very white sands, and clear blue-green water, and surrounded by beautiful scenery. There is a very good campsite, Shore Campsite, nearby too. One of the most beautiful beaches on the Scottish coast, and one of the more easily accessible ones.

3. Windy walks Aberdeen Beach

Aberdeen beach isn't really a beach for sunbathing, but it's perfect for long walks, paddling, beach bonfires and building sandcastles. It has a lovely promenade which stretches all the way along, and has beachside cafes, fish and chips, and the funfair of course! Walk all the way along to the south end and have a snoop around Footdee, a picturesque little old village with tiny houses, gardens and plenty of details to look at.

4. First paddle of the year! Praia de CariƱo

This is a nice beach, if not particularly interesting. I was there in late April, and the water was just warm enough to dip my feet in! This was a quick stop off on a drive round the Cabo Ortegal, which is very impressive and definitely worth a visit - especially out to the light house at the tip of the peninsula.

5. Sand between my toes Praia do Raso

I visited this beach in the Easter holidays, and walked barefoot for the first time since the previous summer. After camping in the tiny, but welcoming campsite right next to the beach, we had a lovely walk on the shore the next morning. The beach is clean, and very pleasant to walk along. There are views round to the next point, and interesting rock formations to climb on and poke about in the rock pools. We collected some pretty shells, and spotted a purple starfish!
